Wrestling Observer Radio with Bryan Alvarez and Dave Meltzer is back today with tons to talk about including the Greatest Royal Rumble, Smackdown, 205 Live, new Impact champions, Bruno Sammartino documentaries in addition to the one on the WWE Network, Nick Newell and UFC, mailbag and tons more!
We start off with more talk on the Greatest Royal Rumble, and how WWE is in bed with a country that isn’t exactly progressive, which comes off as hypocritical following a number of their recent initiatives.
SmackDown is then reviewed. Including talk of Big Cass vs. Daniel Bryan and Cass as a potential star. 205 Live is also reviewed, though with people leaving right after SmackDown, there is discussion about what exactly the purpose of 205 Live is at this point. Ratings talk followed for Raw, SmackDown and UFC.
Impact tapings have been doing on for the last week. Dave talks about the major stories going on, including new champions being crowned. Dave also talks about the various Bruno Sammartino documentaries that are out and where people can find them.
Nick Newell, who only has one arm but has looked impressive in a number of his recent fights is getting a shot in the UFC by competing in Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender series. Dave talks about why it might not be the best idea despite many supporting the move.
Mailbag questions include if people who won the NWA title and sent in the $25,000 deposit got interest, why Impact’s PPV was priced high, if names like Ivan Koloff and Stan Hansen would have been big names without Bruno’s influence, a WWE PPV featuring all women, why Austin turned face for a moment then turned heel again in 2001 and more.
A fun show as always so check it out~!
